Ustaz Mohammad Khalid Rafi
Ustaz Mohammad Khalid Rafi is a dedicated ustaz who is able to seamlessly integrate traditional and contemporary approaches to Islamic education, making his teachings relatable and impactful. With a profound passion for contemporary Fiqh, he actively conducts lessons, motivational talks and seminars on diverse religious and motivational topics, reaching out to a wide audience.
Committed to fostering understanding and mutual respect, Ustaz Mohammad Khalid actively engages in interfaith dialogues aimed at building a more progressive and harmonious community. His initiatives have inspired many to appreciate diverse perspectives while staying rooted in their own beliefs.
His Islamic educational journey began under the esteemed guidance of respected local scholars, including Ust Salleh Abdul Hamid, Syeikh Omar Al-Khattib, and Sheikh Hassan Algannus of Madrasah Khairiah. He further deepened his studies by earning a Diploma in Islamic Studies from Pondok Modern Gontor Darussalam, Indonesia, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Syariah from the University of Madinah. To broaden his expertise, he pursued a Master’s degree in Asian Studies from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University, specializing in ‘Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies’.
Professionally, Ustaz Mohammad Khalid served as the Head of Islamic Learning at Masjid Muhajirin for seven years, where he shaped and led educational initiatives. He later contributed his expertise as a Research Executive at Masjid Wak Tanjong for four years, further extending his impact on the local community.
Beyond his formal positions, Ustaz Mohammad Khalid plays an active role in various platforms. He is a trusted Hakam with the Syariah Court of Singapore since 2016, which adjudicates divorces in the muslim community. He is also an educator at Darul Arqam (Muslim Converts Association of Singapore), where he introduces the teachings of Islam to those seeking a deeper understanding of the religion.
Ustaz Khalid is a member of the Asatizah Youth Network (AYN) under MUIS, a docent at the Harmony Centre, and a regular contributor to the malay newspaper publication "Berita Harian," contributing to religious articles as part of his commitment to sharing Islamic knowledge across diverse platforms.
Through his dynamic roles, Ustaz Mohammad Khalid Rafi continues to inspire, educate, and work towards fostering greater understanding and unity within Singapore’s vibrant, multi-religious society.
